Pre-season friendly Highfield U18 v Highfield Senior Reserves
AUG 23rd
A red hot August lunchtime saw the newly formed Under 18's take on a re-vamped senior reserve team
at The North School Astroturf. The first 20 minutes saw both teams have their chances but good stops
or rusty finishing meant things were finely balanced until the seniors hit the target with a break down the
right. They got their 2nd just before half time with a finely taken header from a corner. The 2nd half saw
the seniors pile on the pressure having numerous chances but the under 18's didn't lie down and they
missed a few great chances after some useful passages of play. Some indiscipline by the youngsters
meant enforced changes to the line up, the seniors took advantage of this and added 2 more goals to
make it 4-0. Overall, this was a useful exercise for the under 18's against a more experienced team and
the seniors took the opportunity to gel their new players in.
Troggs Res v Highfield Senior Reserves
SEP 7th
After beating Troggs three one in a friendly last week my boys were cruising and with two early goals this week against the
same team we looked good for another good win. The goals from Ali Ayid and Mark Hilden sewed up the first half all looked
good. The second half started well for at least five minutes but it then seemed like we were playing a different team.
They scored two goals to bring the scores level then 3 minutes from time we conceeded another to make us 3-2 down.
Back to the drawing board I suppose, better luck next time lads.
Highfield Senior Res 3 v Ashford Spartans 3
20th Sept
Today went a bit better than the last 2 weeks,
we showed great heart and determination to come from behind to draw 3-3 with Ashford Spartans. We started slowly and went
1-0 down but quickly got our acts together to bring it level with a sweet little chip to lob the goal keeper from Ali Ayid.
Low and behold they came back strong to take the lead once more just before half time both Spartans goals came due to
sloppy marking on corners. We started the second half with determination and were soon back level from a Dave Hilden
header. Almost immediately, with a few good passes, they opened us up again and it was 3-2. We were all over them for the
next fifteen minutes creating many chances even hitting the post then Ali struck again after chasing down a thumped clearance
from Brett Ades. All in all this was a hard fought game that could have gone either way.
Highfield Senior Res v Stour Valley
4th Oct
Last week we played Stour Valley away and went one nil down early in the game then dominated for twenty minutes putting
them under pressure and forcing an own goal. We kept the pressure on and Jessy Lee scored from a free kick just on half time.
The second half was much the same constant pressure from us seeing us miss many chances then with 15 minutes to go Ali
Aydin one on one with the keeper chipped it over him to put the game to bed.
This week we played the same team at home and was a lot more comfortable with two goals coming from long throws from
Carl Rossiter and headed home by our captain Mark Price. The other two goals came from Paul Gadstons head and a sweet
goal from Lloyd Fuller with Carl Rossiter being involved in both of those two. What a return he has been, out with a broken ankle
since the first game so welcome back mate. Lets hope its onwards and upwards

Highfield Reserves v Mersham Reserves
22nd Nov
the weather was bleak the wind was strong we went into this match wanting to have the wind in our face first half. we lost the
toss but with luck on our side they chose to play with the wind it was hard with the ball hardly leaving our half we had a few
chances but mostly were defending 45 extreemely hard minutes eventually passed and we had kept it to 0-0
The second half was a different game a goal from darren owen after 15 minutes and another from carl rossiter 10 minutes later
sealed this game. A well worked game that we deserved to win but could have been a lot more with shots pinging in from
every where hitting the bar and good goal keeping stopped a complete slaughtering. well done boys a good 2-0 win
HIGHFIELD RESERVES V MAN OF KENT
24th JAN
Its been a long time since any games have been played and half of us were carrying turkeys from christmas still.
Training has paid of with lots of emphasis being paid to passing and movement off the ball. For the first 45 minutes we
passed Man of Kent off the field and to their credit would have passed anyone off the field, two well worked goals from
Mark Hilden and Mark Price put us 2-0 up at half time.
The second half was slightly harder, we were going up hill and the sun came out it was low in the sky and not helping at all.
We gave away a sloppy goal with 15 minutes to go and they piled on the pressure, for the remaining time the boys were tired
but fought hard and done themselves proud, first game back and a good win.
Well done boys!
