Child Protection Statement.

It is important for the welfare of young people in or associated with our club that the following statement is adhered to.

WE COACH THE INDIVIDUAL NOT THE SPORT.

All coaches are to appreciate that the statement above must be the emphasis of the club.

What we DO

1. Do treat everyone with respect
2. Do provide an example you wish others to follow.
3. Do respect a young person’s right to privacy i.e. changing rooms etc.
4. Do remember that someone else might misinterpret your actions, no matter how well intentioned.
5. Do recognize that caution is required even in sensitive moments such as when dealing with bullying, bereavement or abuse.
6. Do believe a young person if they come to you with concerns of abuse, don’t question them but pass the information on to the
Club Welfare Officer.

What we DO NOT

1. DO NOT permit abusive peer activities (EG ridiculing, bullying, nicknames )
2. DO NOT have any inappropriate physical or verbal contact with players.
3. DO NOT exaggerate or trivialize child abuse issues.
4. DO NOT show favouritism to any individual.
5. DO NOT make suggestive remarks or gestures.
6. DO NOT place yourself in any situation where you may be vulnerable or that may be misinterpreted.
