After a good pre-season winning 2 and drawing 1 of their Friendlies, Highfield United F.C. were away to Aldington F.C. Highfield should have taken an
early lead when Lloyd Dehara was put in Luke Henderson but smashed the ball wide. Kicking against the wind and slightly uphill Highfield were creating
the better chances but could not take them. Aldington finally broke the deadlock when a ball was crossed into the area and not cleared and it was finally
bundled over the line to put Aldington 1-0 up. It was only a few minutes later when James Standen latched onto a through ball into the area and coolly
lobed the on rushing Aldington keeper for the ball to bounce into an empty net and make it 1-1.
Level pegging at Half-time it really should have been a straight forward second half with Highfield kicking downhill but with the wind dying and Highfield's
finishing not up to what it had been in the friendlies the game remained at 1-1. A point to start the season and Bromley Green to play in our next fixture.
