Bodkin Cup Hamstreet F.C. 1 v 3 Highfield F.C. Goal Scorers Highfield F.C. Jonty Ventner x 2 Paul Pettitt Hamstreet F.C. McGuiness First round of the Bodkin Cup and Highfield met Hamstreet who are currently top of the Premier Division. Hamstreet started the brighter with some early shots on goal and most of the pressure but it was Highfield that took the early lead against the run of play when a good break away move from Highfield saw Paul Pettitt break into the Hamstreet box and smartly finish. Some excellent passing moves from Highfield created the second goal scored by Jony Ventner. So at half-time Highfield were 2-0 up and holding Hamstreet off well. In the second Half Hamstreet came at Highfield fast and got an early goal that hit a divert and deflected into the top corner. Highfield then had two chances that fell to Paul Pettitt to finish the game off but he couldn't capitalize on them. But Jonty Ventner hit a sweet shot into the ground that bounced over the Hamstreet keeper to win the game 3-1 and put Highfield into the next round of the cup.
Market Hotel F.C. 2 v 0 Highfield F.C. Highfield United F.C. dropped to the bottom of the Premier Division in Ashford & District Sunday League when they lost to Market Hotel at the weekend 2-0. For 70 minutes the game was evens with Market creating the better of the chances but with some good defending blocks and goal keeping Market were frustrated when they weren't leading at Half-time. In the second half the Market captain broke free and lobbed Dan Regan in goal to put Market 1-0 up and it wasn't long before it was 2-0 when Highfield went to sleep and let in a second. With Brewmaster High Halden picking up their first point of the season away to Churchill Royals - Highfield have only one way to go now and thats up.
Highfield United F.C. 4 - 1 Kennington F.C. Goal Scorers Paul Pettitt Lloyd Dehara x 3 Highfield United got their first win in the Premier league this season with a 4 - 1 win over Kennington. With Manage Andy Henderson away it was left to Mark Saunders and Sam Beale to get a result in the Managers absence. Highfield changed their usual formation to try and be more attacking and after the first 10 minutes had settled down and they had got use to the new way of playing they got the early goal they were looking for when Lloyd Dehara beat the Kennington Keeper from 12 yards out. Lloyd Dehara got his second moments later when latching onto a through ball and finishing in style. At 2-0 Highfield were looking comfortable and good have been a few more up before the break. In the second half Lloyd Dehara completed his hat-trick and put Highfield into a comfortable position. Kennington pulled one back from close range before Paul Pettitt curled the ball in from a free kick into the top corner to give the Kennington Keeper no chance. Highfield should have made it a few more before the end of the game but couldn't find the finishing touch. Man of the Match was Jonty Venter who dominated the midfield. Highfield United F.C. 0 - 8 Bethersden F.C. After a great victory last week Highfield were hoping for a bit more of the same but knowing they were up against last years winners of the premier league they knew it was going to be a very tall order. Highfield started badly conceding in the first 10 minutes and it just got worse from there loosing Jonty Venter through injury and other players that were already carrying injuries having to play a full game. At Half-time it was 3-0 to Bethersden and Highfield were just not finishing the chances they had - Bethersden seem to score with every attack they had and yet Highfield could not hit the target. The game ended in an 8-0 win for Bethersden.
Churchill’s 3 v 2 Highfield United F.C. 27th March 2011 A must game win for both teams to avoid being closer to relegation was on the cards. Neither side looked liked scoring and at half time the score was 0-0. In the second half again with neither team really coming close to goal it took a dubious penalty to break the deadlock when a Churchill's player fell to his knees and stumbled into the box. From the spot kick they made sure and went 1-0 into the lead. Churchill’s got a second when a miss kicked shot to another player to tap in from close range to make it 2-0. Highfield suddenly kicked into gear and when Jamie Henderson found Mark Saunders at the back post to head the ball down for Lloyd Dehara to score into an empty net the game was back on at 2-1. Highfield were all over Churchill’s for the next 10 minutes but then again on Churchill’s first real attack another Penalty was awarded for handball. Churchill made no mistake from the spot and made it 3-1. Highfield again fort back and when Ben had a shot from 25 yards out to lob the Churchill’s keeper it was game on again at 3-2. There just wasn't enough time for Highfield to get that equaliser they so deserved.
Brewmaster 1 v 5 Highfield F.C. 3rd April 2011 Another bottom of the table clash and with both teams trying to avoid relegation it was another must win game. Highfield started slowly but with Brewmaster not taking their early chances let Highfield into the game and take the lead when Lloyd Dehara rounded the keeper to put Highfield 1-0 up. It was only moments later when Dehara got his second of the match and put Highfield into a 2-0 lead. James Standen then battled his way through the Brewmaster defence and smashed the ball home to give Highfield a 3-0 lead at half-time. Again in the second Half Highfield sat back and defended their 3-0 lead and hit Brewmaster on the break when Dehara out paced the Brewmaster defence to score his Hat-trick (3rd one this season) and to kill the game off at 4-0. Brewmaster came close on several occasions but couldn't find the net and it was only when a Brewmaster player went over Michael Herbert's leg they had a chance to score from the spot. Brewmaster made sure of the penalty kick to make it 4-1 but it was Highfield that had the final word when Lloyd Dehara got his 4th of the game after some great running from Paul Pettitt to split the Brewmaster defence open. One game to go against Churchill’s - 3 points for either team will guarantee safety for them.
